Our Privacy-First Approach

Flightmaps is designed with privacy at its core. We believe you should be able to visualize your travel history without sacrificing your personal data. Here's how we protect your privacy:

• No account required - Use the tool without creating an account or providing personal information
• No permanent storage - Your uploaded files are processed in memory and never saved to disk
• Session-based only - Map data exists only during your browser session
• No third-party sharing - We never share, sell, or transfer your data to anyone

File Uploads

When you upload a CSV or Excel file:

• The file is read into temporary memory on our server
• We parse the route and date columns to generate your map
• The file contents are immediately discarded after processing
• No copy of your file is ever saved or logged

Your flight data never leaves your browser session. Once you close the tab, the data is gone.

Manual Entry

When you enter flights manually:

• Flight data is stored temporarily in your browser (localStorage)
• Data is sent to our server only when you click "Generate Map"
• Like file uploads, this data is processed and immediately discarded

Cookies

We use minimal cookies for essential functionality only:

• Language preference - Remembers your selected language (1 year expiry)
• Session cookie - Required for the app to function (expires when you close browser)

We do not use advertising cookies, tracking cookies, or analytics that identify individual users.

Third-Party Services

Flightmaps uses the following third-party services:

• Mapbox - For rendering 2D maps. Mapbox may collect anonymous usage data per their privacy policy.
• Google Fonts - For typography. Google may collect anonymous font usage data.
• Ko-fi - Optional donation widget. Only loads if you interact with it.
• GoatCounter - Privacy-friendly, open-source web analytics. Counts page views without cookies, without tracking personal data, and without selling data to third parties. Learn more.

Your flight data is never sent to any of these services.

Share Cards

When you generate a shareable image of your map:

• The image is created entirely in your browser using JavaScript
• No data is sent to our servers during image generation
• The image is downloaded directly to your device

Your Rights

Since we don't store your personal data, there's nothing to delete or export. However, you have the right to:

• Use the service without providing any personal information
• Clear your browser cookies at any time
• Contact us with any privacy concerns

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Your continued use of Flightmaps after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
